WEBINAR: Minnesota Paid Leave Law Primer - Preparing for January 1, 2026
ABOUT
Effective January 1, 2026, all employers with one or more employees in Minnesota must comply with the new Paid Leave Law. This webinar will provide a detailed overview of the law, including eligibility requirements, coordination of benefits (such as paid time off, earned sick and safe time, and short-term disability), premiums, required notices, wage supplementation, and options for equivalent coverage.
Our speaker, Corie Anderson, will also cover IRS guidance related to contribution deductions, what is included or excluded from gross income, benefits, and reporting and withholding requirements. Additionally, they will address the upcoming changes in Minnesota regarding mandated paid rest breaks and unpaid meal breaks, including any associated penalties.

Our Speaker Corie Anderson represents employers in a full range of employment law issues and litigation. Having worked for eight (8) years in the HR/legal department of a large outdoor equipment manufacturer, she understands the needs of employers from an in-house perspective and uses a practical business approach to assist employers to avoid and resolve employee matters. She worked for eighteen (18) years at her former firm defending and advising employers in areas such as wage and hour, Department of Labor and other government workplace investigations, prevailing wage laws and ordinances, immigration, discrimination, disability accommodations, harassment, discipline and termination. Corie enjoys assisting management with employment agreements, restrictive agreements, independent contractor agreements, business contract review and negotiation, and resolution of shareholder disputes. She frequently presents seminars both for employers and associations on a broad range of subjects such as harassment, discrimination, and employment law updates. She assists employers in responding to employee complaints and charges of discrimination, conducing workplace investigations, and defends employers when litigation commences.
Corie frequently speaks at various associations and insurance groups regarding legislative changes related to employment law, best practices, and requested general employment law topics. She is the sole author of the Minnesota Wage & Hour blog (2016-2024).
In her free time, Corie is a professional disc golfer and enjoys off-roading her Jeep, camping and hiking. She has her pilot’s license and serves her community as a Legal Officer for the Minnesota Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, was its first Diversity Officer, and has presented at the National Legal Officer’s College on diversity and inclusion. She spent numerous years as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.
